Who We Are
Lagos State branch of The Association of Radiographers of Nigeria
The Association of Radiographers of Nigeria is a registered health professional association that represent the interest of Radiographers and Radiation therapists in Nigeria.
The Association was formed at Ibadan (Adeoye Hospital) in May 1958, and had her first conference at Ibadan. The Association had consistently struggled for the emancipation of the profession without the legal framework of a regulatory body until 1987 when Decree No. 42 of 1987 was enacted as a result of the struggle. This Decree conferred a regulatory authority on the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN), however despite the establishment of RRBN, at the initial stage, the Association continue to play a significant role and a driving force to RRBN. Presently with the RRBN fully functional, the pressure on the Association is reduced as both bodies synergize to move the profession to greater heights.
The Association became a foundation member of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT) in 1961 and has continually played a significant role in the international scene.
